  • SPC Mechanical installed over 26 miles of HVAC and plumbing piping for the new UNC REX Holly Springs Hospital, delivering the complex project on time despite major construction and supply chain interruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Prefabricating modular racks to accommodate HVAC and plumbing systems and coordinating with electricians to save weeks of field labor and provide enhanced quality control

  • Using BIM drawings to accurately identify locations for underground plumbing during the early phases of construction and accurately installing them using a Trimble device with a GPS program

  • Simultaneously managing 185 SPC employees and subcontractors on the jobsite effectively and safely

  • Coordinating the complex logistics and sourcing of materials during a pandemic

  • Modifying the timing of the air handlers’ installation due to COVID-19 supply chain interruptions to not delay construction.

  • Using a crane to install two-story-tall air handlers

  • Accommodating 300 Construction Change Directives (CCD) throughout construction

UNC Rex Holly Springs Hospital was a large, complex project. The SPC management and field staff effectively and efficiently installed the plumbing, medical gas and HVAC systems. The project’s successful completion is directly related to the SPC team’s hard work, communication, collaboration and attention to detail.
